  • The fundamental design intention was to provide an outdoor venue for a small number of muscians who would perform on the balcony for an audience seated below (now an internet HQ).

Lacking a precise definition and function, it is to be judged mainly for its formal values. It is architecture for the sake of the image; a design of a symbol with a strong identity, using an artistic approach rather than a functional one.

It has no front or back in conventional terms. Rather, its shape is derived from a geometrically modified sphere, a shape that achieves optimum energy performance by minimising the surface area exposed to direct sunlight.
